KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- Many seniors in the Kirksville area now have information about their health and fitness.
The first "NEMO Senior Expo" offers health screenings, Medicare comparisons, 20 minute hot topic presentations and door prizes.
The expo is a resource exposition and health fair for seniors, their caregivers, disabled adults and those retiring soon.
Hundreds of people stopped by the Adair County Family YMCA to learn more about the resources available for them.
“Probably the most important thing I learned was I went to the social security and I also checked on some of the different drug programs to see whether or not mine's going to be too expensive. And so these are the two main things that I, you know, picked up on,” said Larry Kruse.
Admission and lunch was free. One lucky person received a crisp 100 dollar bill as the grand prize.
More than 40 local agencies participated in the expo.
“I just think it's an opportunity for them to come to one place and get all the information they need at one time so they don't have to go all over town to find out about different services that are available for seniors. They can come to one location and get it all at one time,” said Twin Pines Adult Care Center Executive Director Jack Kelly.
