OTTUMWA, IOWA -- The Ottumwa Police Department held it's annual haunted house this weekend.
The haunted house is the police department's largest fundraiser for the D.A.R.E. and G.R.E.A.T. programs. All the proceeds raised go to the programs designed to help keep kids off drugs and out of gangs.
More than 600 guests visited the haunted house for its opening weekend. Organizers say if you're looking for a good scare you'll definitively get your monies worth.
“The rooms are dark, there are strobe lights, there is fog. There are some areas you crawl through on your hands and knees. So it's not for everyone but for those who enjoy a haunted house this is one of the best,” said Sgt. Brian Johnson.
The haunted house will be open at Ottumwa City Hall again next weekend. The cost is six dollars and it runs from 6 p.m. until midnight Friday and Saturday.
