KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- The trial for a northeast Missouri woman accused of killing her husband is delayed again, this time because of a pending federal investigation.

Fifty-five-year-old Kay Young of Novinger is charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the March 2006 death of her husband, Melvin Griesbauer.

Griesbauer died of a gunshot to the head.

Young's trial has been pushed back several times for various reasons.

It was supposed to start October 29 in Howard County.

Adair County Prosecutor Mark Williams told KTVO he can't comment on why the FBI is now getting involved, but the feds' involvement is the reason for the latest delay in Young's trial.

"The federal government, as far as their investigation goes, I can't really be specific as far as timing or what issues or those things. All I can say though is it's not uncommon for them to become involved in some of our cases," said Williams.

Williams said he is now hoping for a December trial date for Young.

A friend of Young’s is a second suspect in Melvin Griesbauer's death.

Katherine Mock of Cassville, Missouri, is also charged with murder in the case.
