KEOSAUQUA, IOWA -- Van Buren County Hospital received some good news this week.
The hospital in Keosauqua, Iowa, is the recipient of $200,000 federal loan through the Community Facilities Loan and Grant Program. U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley made the announcement Thursday.
The money will be used to help fund a $1.1 million facility on the hospital's campus.
“We're very excited. This is a community center. It's primarily a child care center, but it also will bring on Head Start, our Job Opportunities program and the day care center and Parents as First Teachers. So the young families will be able to receive many of their services in the same are,” said Van Buren County Hospital CEO/Administrator Lisa Schnedler.
She says the new center will benefit the entire community and provide more comprehensive care for local children.
“We hope to break ground in spring 2010. And we're going to be, it's on a 12-18 month calendar just depending on when we get in the ground and how the construction goes,” Schnedler said.
