KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- Drivers along Suburban Drive in Kirksville are slowing down to avoid bumps and dips in the road.

W. L. Miller Company milled several streets in Kirksville more than two weeks ago.

After a street is milled, asphalt is overlaid to make the road smooth again.

We spoke to Public Works Director John Buckwalter who says his department knew some time would pass between the milling and the asphalt overlay.  Buckwalter says that way they could make repairs to the roads between the two phases.

However, he didn't know it would take this long to complete the project.

W. L. Miller Plant Manager Dan Ebert says they're behind schedule because of working on other projects including Highway 63, the wet weather, and other factors.

A representative from Miller didn't return our phone call requesting an on-air interview.
