JEFFERSON CITY, MO. (AP) -- An American high-speed rail delegation has returned after spending last week examining Spain's train system.

Missouri state House member Charlie Schlottach said Monday the group spoke with Spanish officials about the development of that country's high-speed rail system. The delegation examined expansion plans and rode the high-speed train from Madrid to Barcelona, Spain.

Schlottach is the chairman of the Midwest Interstate Passenger Rail Commission. He says the trip will help state officials with planning high-speed rail corridors in the U.S.

The rail commission covers Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio and Wisconsin. Schlottach says officials from Texas and Washington state also attended.
