KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- Mothers, grab your sons and head to the Truman Farm Thursday for an old-fashioned stampede!
The Heartland Task Force is hosting a Mother-Son Stampede from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on the grounds of the Truman Statue University Farm and the Bruce Normile Center. The Heartland Task Force is made up of local agencies such as the YMCA, local schools, and businesses that promote a safe, drug free community.
“The Heartland Task Force is an organization that works to promote healthy lifestyles for many adults and kids in the community. The Mother-Son Stampede is actually a positive social event,” said Heartland Task Force Co-President Matt Holt.
The stampede will also feature a BB gun firing range, obstacle course, hay rides, and much more. Holt says last year more than 450 people came out and made the stampede very successful.
“I think it will be a really good time, I think we will have a lot of fun. And again, it's a healthy productive, positive way to pass their time and build a bond with their son or another child in their life,” said Holt.
The event is for boys ages five and up and their mom or a special woman in their life.
The cost is $6 per couple and $2 for each additional boy. In the event of rain, the events will take place at the indoor arena.
