DANVILLE, IOWA (AP) -- Authorities say a New London woman died after she apparently drove her pickup truck around the crossing arms at some railroad tracks and was hit by an Amtrak train in eastern Iowa.

The Des Moines County sheriff's office says the accident happened about 5:45 p.m. on Monday near Danville.

The woman, who was the only one in the pickup, died at the scene. Her name was not released pending notification of family.

There were about 250 passengers on the westbound train. No injuries were reported.

Authorities say witnesses reported the woman drove around the crossing arms, which were down.

Amtrak officials on the scene declined to comment.

The train moved on to its next stop in Mount Pleasant about three hours later.
