JEFFERSON CITY, MO. (AP) -- The Missouri Republican Party is casting a skeptical eye at a couple of recent appointments by Democratic Gov. Jay Nixon.

Nixon this month appointed Kelley Martin, of Kansas City to a Republican slot on the Missouri Development Finance Board. Last month, he appointed Kansas City attorney Stephen Miller to a Republican position on the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission.

Both Martin and Miller contributed to Nixon and have given more money to Democrats than to Republicans in recent elections. Republican Party Executive Director Lloyd Smith says the Republican credentials of those appointees are questionable. But
Martin and Miller say they are Republicans.

Four years ago, the Democratic Party raised similar accusations against Republican Gov. Matt Blunt, who appointed several of hisdonors to Democratic spots on state boards.
