OSKALOOSA, IOWA (AP) -- Police have seized suspected marijuana plants and drug paraphernalia from the home of a 23-year veteran of the Oskaloosa fire department.

Rodney W. Minter has been charged with manufacturing a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Minter is a firefighter and metal sculptor who operates an art studio inside his house. The city of Oskaloosa had recently commissioned him to create a metal sculpture at the Oskaloosa Elementary School.

Police say they found the plants and alleged paraphernalia inside the residence and business.

Minter has waived a preliminary hearing set for Sept. 17.
