Veterans commission to hold statewide town halls

JEFFERSON CITY -- The Missouri Veterans Commission Thursday announced a partnership with several Veterans service groups to host 21 Veterans Town Hall/Listening Posts statewide.

Working with the American Legion, AmVets, Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA), Marine Parents, and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the Missouri Veterans Commission is seeking input on the needs and concerns of Missouri’s Veterans and their families.

“We want a dialogue with all our Veterans across Missouri and believe that by holding these forums around the state, we’ll get the maximum input,” said Commission Executive Director Larry D. Kay, “By knowing the needs and concerns of our Veterans we can better serve them in the future.”

The Town Hall/Listening Posts will be held in the following cities in September and October.  Locations and times of the Town Halls will be available on the Missouri Veterans Commission website and provided to local media as the information becomes available to their communities.

September 14 – Mexico
September 16 – Kirksville
September 17 – Hannibal
September 21 – Warrensburg
September 23 – Maryville
September 24 – Chillicothe
September 28 – St. Roberts
September 30 – St. Joseph
October 1 – Raytown
October 5 – Columbia
October 7 – Sikeston
October 8 – Cape Girardeau
October 12 – Ste. Genevieve
October 13 – DeSoto
October 14 – St. Louis
October 20 – West Plains
October 21 – Branson
October 22 – Springfield
October 26 – Camp Clark, near Nevada
October 27 – Joplin
October 28 – St. Charles
