JEFFERSON CITY, MO. (AP) -- Missouri officials are looking for help in seeking federal economic stimulus money for the creation of electronic health records.

The stimulus act includes money for states to design and implement systems for sharing patients' electronic records among
doctors, hospitals and other medical providers.  Missouri currently has no plan for such a system but hopes to
apply for a federal grant.

The departments of social services and health are holding a series of meetings about the health information grants. The first
was scheduled for Friday in St. Louis, with others to follow in Kansas City, Cape Girardeau, Columbia, Kirksville and Springfield. The Kirksville meeting is scheduled for Aug. 17 at the TCRC from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. To register, call (314) 345-5576.
