ADAIR COUNTY, MO. -- One person is dead after a farm accident in Adair County Friday afternoon.
Adair County Coroner Brian Noe told KTVO the victim is Kenneth Lovell, 76, of rural Kirksville.
The accident happened just before 2 p.m. on Seven Hills Way.
Adair County Sheriff Bob Hardwick said Lovell was killed after he became pinned under one of the back wheels of a tractor.
A preliminary investigation indicates Lovell stopped the tractor and turned it off but did not set either of the brakes. The tractor then rolled backwards, trapping the man underneath it.
Authorities say it appears he was pinned for some time before he was discovered. Lovell was pronounced dead at the scene by Adair County Coroner Brian Noe.
Lovell's daughter, Geane Lovell, collapsed at the scene and was taken to Northeast Regional Medical Center for treatment.
She was then transferred to University Hospital in Columbia. It's believed she may have suffered a heart attack after finding her father.
At last check, Geane Lovell was listed in critical condition.
