DES MOINES, IOWA (AP) -- Gov. Chet Culver will focus attention on expansion of health care coverage for Iowa children in stops at a Des Moines hospital and in Iowa City.
Culver will tour Blank Children's Hospital and hold a news conference Tuesday morning, then hold what he's calling a town hall meeting on children's health care in Iowa City in the afternoon. He'll be joined by health and state officials for the Iowa City event.
Culver will highlight an expansion of health coverage to children through Iowa's Medicaid and HAWK-I programs. The Legislature has completed a multi-year expansion of the coverage designed to cover 90 percent of eligible children by the 2011 fiscal year.
