Two men charged in Ottumwa robbery, assault

(OTTUMWA, Iowa) - On the morning of July 12, 2009 the Ottumwa Police Department responded to 215 North Weller Street on a report of a burglary.  Responding officers determined a robbery had occurred and initiated an investigation. The victim of the robbery, William O’Conner advised officers that unknown persons had entered his residence while he was sleeping and assaulted him.  O’Conner also advised officers several items of property had been removed from his residence. O’Conner was transported to Ottumwa Regional Hospital with facial injuries.

As a result of the investigation, officers arrested and charged with Robbery 1st Degree, Devan Jay Cartwright age 18, 315 Grandview, Ottumwa and Justin Ray Wilson Anderson age 18, of 16336 Stokes Road, Greentop Missouri.  Cartwright and Anderson are currently being held in the Wapello County Jail on $25,000 bond.

The investigation is on-going and further arrests are pending
