Press release from Noah's Ark Animal Shelter.

(FAIRFIELD, Iowa) - Trixie, an adorable 10-week-old kitten, was homeless and alone outside of a local Fairfield gas station. She had a severe limp and as she greeted her soon-to-be-rescuers, one of her feet remained buckled, causing a very red and irritated abrasion on the ankle she used to balance herself. Full of hope and trust, she gratefully snuggled into a caring person’s offered arms.

Hoping to save the sweet kitten, her rescuers rushed Trixie to a local veterinarian. They couldn’t keep Trixie, or pay for her medical expenses, so they left her with the veterinarians, hoping for the best. Knowing that Noah’s Ark believes in kindness and loving care for animals, the veterinarian’s office called Noah’s Ark to see if they could help.

Noah’s Ark was happy to help little Trixie! After x-rays, it was determined that Trixie suffered severe nerve damage in her right front leg and unfortunately, it could not be repaired. Veterinarians quickly went to work, successfully performing a leg amputation as well as spaying Trixie. After 2 weeks of recovery and expert veterinary care, the stitches were removed and Trixie was placed in a Noah’s Ark foster home.

Trixie is proof that with the right attitude, anything is possible! Although she only has three legs, she runs faster than her five other foster buddy kittens! Trixie jumps, climbs, and bats at cat toys but she most enjoys snuggling in laps for long cuddle sessions. Her zest for life is evident in her enthusiastic approach when greeting visitors, speaking with joyful “meows” and her constant purring whenever caring people are near.

When Trixie has fully healed, she will be available for adoption at Noah’s Ark. Like all cats and kittens available at Noah’s Ark, Trixie has been spayed, microchipped, given her initial vaccinations, tested for feline diseases and given preventative parasite treatments. Although the price for Trixie’s adoption is only $65, the costs to save Trixie were much higher. Donations to help Trixie can be mailed to Noah’s Ark, P.O. Box 748, Fairfield, IA 52556. Donations can also be made online at www.noahsark.org or dropped off at the shelter located at 1986 Gear Avenue in Fairfield.
