KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- Kirksville officials aren’t giving up on making the Human Identification Technologies DNA lab a reality.
The project has been on hold because of a lack of funding.
You may remember, part of the project is private, but another part involves the Kirksville Police Department.
Kirksville Regional Economic Development, Incorporated is applying for a 1.2 million dollar grant for that public portion.
The grant money comes from federal economic stimulus funds.
KREDI Director of Job Creation Phil Tate says he still believes in the project. “I think HIT is a great project. I think a lot of us in the community are vested in it in one way or another, whether it be ATSU or Truman,” he said.
