KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- There’s a lot to be learned from tornados that struck Northeast Missouri just over two weeks ago.
Officials from 23 agencies met in Kirksville on Friday to debrief about the emergency response to the disaster.
Overall, officials agree very few mistakes were made. All the notes from the meeting are being compiled and will be released next week.
“The main issue that came up was communication. But that is something that can’t be perfect. Everytime, you will do something differently and never have a perfect solution,” Stan East Junior of La Plata Emergency Operations said.
All recommendations from the meeting will be put into an action plan to improve protocol if and when another disaster should strike.
