KIRKSVILLE, MO -- It’s been just over two weeks since twisters hit Northeast Missouri.

Ellen Gillum thought it was time to get back to work at her beauty shop “The Looking Glass.”

The shop’s windows were blown out by the tornado. But that damage is nothing compared to Gillum’s home right next door. It was completely destroyed. All that remains now is the basement.

Gillum’s customers were happy she decided to come back to work so early. Gillum says she never thought she would appreciate the little things so much.

“I’ve tried to gather my thoughts. Call my folks up and get them all lined it. It is good to be back and just get back into the swing of routine life,” Gillum said.

Gillum says all her buildings and house were insured. She plans to rebuild the house.
