KIRKSVILLE, MO -- While taxpayers all around the Heartland held "No More Tax Tea Parties," the Adair County Public Library in Kirksville also hosted a tea party Wednesday. But this was a different kind of tea party.

In honor of National Library Week, the Friends of the Library held their 4th Annual Tea Party. The party honored more than 300 volunteers who are necessary to make the library function. Members say it's just a coincidence that their tea party happened to fall on the same day as all of the taxpayer “tea parties.”

“I don't think anybody even thought about it because we planned this so far ahead, and it just happened. It's not political but we're celebrating the library and the volunteers,” said Eva Noe, Friends of the Library Board member.

The volunteers enjoyed elegant finger foods and of course.....tea. The Friends of the Library also donated a book to the library in honor of each volunteer.
