KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- The church family of a Kirksville teenager with a rare form of cancer is holding a benefit late Friday afternoon and evening.
Kirksville High School student Shelby Willis was diagnosed with peritoneal mesothelioma a few months ago.
She has been undergoing treatment in Columbia. Her church, Faith United Methodist Church in Kirksville, is holding a benefit to help the family pay for various expenses. The event is set to start at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 3, at the Kirksville Moose Lodge at 2405 E. Illinois Street.
Food will be served from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Entertainment by Frankie Williams and Dance Force goes from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
At 7 p.m., an auction of donated items begins. There's also a raffle for a handmade quilt and a gun.
If you can't make it to the benefit, you can drop off donations or mail them to Bank of Kirksville, c/o Faith UMC-Shelby Willis Benefit.
