DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Gov. Chet Culver is scheduled to travel to eastern Iowa on Tuesday to continue to pitch his plan to spend $750 million on projects aimed at generating thousands of jobs.

Culver is supposed to make stops in Davenport, Clinton, Maquoketa and Anamosa as part of his "Shovel Ready Tour."

Culver began his statewide tour earlier this month in Des Moines.

It's intended to urge Iowans to pressure legislators into passing as much of the governor's plan as possible. He wants to sell $750 million in bonds, which would be repaid over 20 years with $56 million annually from gambling profits.

Culver says the plan would create tens of thousands of jobs, helping Iowa's stumbling economy while also repairing flood damage and dealing with a backlog of maintenance needs.
