KIRKSVILLE, MO -- Now that spring is almost here, flu season is coming to an end. But local doctors tell KTVO that many people who got flu shots last fall have been complaining of the flu.
However, doctors say this year has not been a bad year for the flu at all compared to last year. Dr. Robert Parsonson says people are actually coming into his office with viruses that have flu-like symptoms.
“The way that you can tell the difference between the flu and one of these flu-like viruses, the real flu is a sudden onset. You'll feel fine in the morning and by afternoon or early evening you'll feel real sick, and maybe even in bed with it. With the other flu-like viruses, the common cold type thing, those symptoms evolve over a few days period,” Parsonson said.
Dr. Parsonson says the best way to stay healthy is by washing your hands regularly and getting plenty of rest. He says you should also avoid eating and drinking after others.
