OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Community members gathered this evening to raise money to help an Ottumwa sixth grader fight cancer.

The Drifters Car Club held a spaghetti dinner benefit for Christian Arnold at the Ottumwa High School cafeteria.

Car Club members are hoping the night will bring in two thousand dollars to help Christian and his family with medical bills.

The 12-year-old boy has already gone through an amputation and two rounds of chemo.

The night was full of fun and food for everyone.

“We’ve got some surprises for Christian that he don't know anything about so,” said Jerry Bride with the Drifters Car Club.

Despite the tough times, Christian said he's doing very well.

He tells KTVO that events like this mean a lot to him and his family.
