LA PLATA, MO -- As part of his "Campaign for the People," Congressman Roy Blunt stopped on a farm just outside La Plata, Missouri as part of his three-day tour of the state.
Thursday, Blunt announced that he will be running for Kit Bond's seat in the U.S. Senate next year. Blunt says the one-party control in Washington is a problem, and if elected, he would fight to find economic solutions with common sense.
“Right now what we see in Washington is this--'We won the election, we're gonna write the bill,' attitude, and by the way, you don't even get to read it. You don't get to read it, all you get to do is vote on it. Americans are gonna find out for months what was in that bill,” Blunt said.
Blunt says the bill included the building of a high-speed train that would have run from Las Vegas to Disneyland, which he thinks would have been a huge waste of money.
He says it will interesting to see the vast differences between his ideas and those of opponent Robin Carnahan over the next 20 months leading up to election time.
