OTTUMWA, IOWA -- After several contentious meetings, Tuesday’s regular meeting of the Ottumwa City Council should be a low-key affair.

The agenda is short and the main topic of discussion is the possibility of a new business coming to Ottumwa.

The council will hold two public hearings designed to pave the wave for a new hotel and restaurant complex on North Quincy Avenue.

A hotel ownership group has proposed building the facility near the South Hy-Vee store. The group already owns Ottumwa’s Fairfield Inn.

The council will be looking for public input on rezoning the area for commercial development and approving the phase I development plans.

The council will also set March 3 as the date to hold the public hearing on the budget for the upcoming year.

Anyone wishing to comment at the public hearings on Tuesday, just needs to be present Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers.
