OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Catholic school children across the U.S. are celebrating Catholic Schools Week.

Ottumwa’s Seton Catholic School Principal Terri Schofield told KTVO that it’s a special week to focus on the value of a Catholic education.

Students traditionally dress up and play games during the school day.

On Wednesday, kids dressed as farmers and played a game with seeds to represent the parable of the day, the Sower and the Seed.

Students walk away with an important lesson at the end of the week.

"I think they realize the value of what Seton provides for them, and Seton is the only Catholic school in the area so the students don't often understand not everyone has the opportunity to come together in the morning and pray," Schofield said.

Each year the sixth graders pick the themes for all of the days of the week.
