KIRKSVILLE, MO -- A plane crash or a train derailment – two accidents that could happen in our own backyard.

That’s why the Adair County Ambulance District ordered a mass casualty incident trailer.

The $20,000 trailer was paid for by the Department of Homeland Security.

The supplies inside the trailer are for basic life support. They can treat up to 50 patients should a major disaster strike.

“This would be something we could use for a massive incident with multiple patients. Right now, our ambulances can take care of two or three patients per ambulance,” said Dave Reed with the Adair County Ambulance District.

There are four similar trailers in the surrounding areas.
