KIRKSVILLE, MO -- The Kirksville Arts Center was booming with brides-to-be at the 2009 Bridal Expo Sunday.
The event featured many area businesses ready to make wedding dreams become reality. Hundreds showed up to sample and see what local vendors have to offer, including photography, cakes, and even massages. The Bridal Expo was put on by TailorMade Events.
“We've been doing the bridal shows for two years now and so it will become an annual Northeast Missouri event, absolutely. There's lots of talent in Northeast Missouri and we really need to showcase it, so why not?” said Donna Brown, owner of TailorMade Events.
Brown says the expo was a complete success, with over 200 people through the doors within the first hour alone. The expo ended with a live fashion show courtesy of Teresa's Bridal Boutique.
And with the large turnout at today's bridal expo, we wondered how those in the midst of planning a wedding are navigating the rough economy. Our Fact Finder team has learned that the wedding industry is one business that's booming despite the recession.
“When it comes to your wedding, there aren’t many cutbacks. If you really want a good photographer you're going to pay for a good photographer, so I have not seen any cutbacks,” Brown said.
Brown tells Fact Finder there is so much local interest in weddings that she already has two more area bridal expos planned for this spring and summer.
