KIRKSVILLE, MO -- The Truman State University celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. continued Wednesday with the 9th annual Unity Luncheon.
   
The luncheon is a way for community members to celebrate Dr. King's legacy and his vision for America.

“He wanted America to live up to its foundational ideals, that equality and freedom and justice and opportunity be available for all,” said Bertha Thomas, Asst. Dean of Multicultural Affairs.
    
The featured entertainment included music from the gospel group One Voice and a reading by Truman theater students. Elementary students who participated in the “Living the Dream” contest were recognized for their hard work.
   
Festivities continue Thursday with a Martin Luther King Symposium at 7 p.m. in the Student Union.
