MACON, MO -- The economy strikes again...forcing a local Ford dealership to become a used car lot.

As of Tuesday, Sutton Motors resigned the Ford franchise and will sell the remaining Ford and Chrysler cars at liquidation prices. Sutton resigned the Chrysler franchise in November.

Owner John Sutton says he has to drop the Ford name because of unstable fuel costs and the slump in new vehicle sales. Sutton Motors, Inc. is a family business that was established in 1955. The owners plan to run the dealership as a premium used car lot and retail repair shop.

Last year Macon had two new car dealerships, and soon it won't have any.
