OTTUMWA, IOWA -- The Nation’s Symbol has shown itself in Ottumwa and was sought after Saturday.
The bald eagle has been traveling to Ottumwa during winter months to catch prey near the Des Moines River dam for the past few years.
Saturday marked the Fourth-Annual Eagle Walk in Ottumwa.
A photo contest, along with exhibits and a bird show went along with the hike around the Des Moines River to give event goers a chance to learn about and see this rare and powerful bird.
"The Eagle Walk is sponsored by the Wapello County Trails Council and it’s an opportunity for the Trails Council to promote trail us and to promote the eagles that winter in Wapello County,” said Kim Hellige, Coordinator.
The Eagle Walk was attended by over a hundred people Saturday morning and had more photo entries than ever in their annual contest.
