ELDON, MO. (AP) -- Law officers are investigating the discovery of human remains on farmland in central Missouri, north of Lake of the Ozarks.
Miller County Sheriff Bill Abbott said yesterday that a resident walking his dog called authorities after stumbling across what appeared to be a skull near Eldon on Saturday. After a seven-hour search, deputies found more remains that Abbott believes are all from the same body.
He said the gender, age and cause of death are undetermined, and a skull and teeth were sent to the Boone County Medical Examiners Office in Columbia. Abbott said it could take several weeks before authorities receive additional information.
The remains were found about 13 miles north of Lake Ozark.
