KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- After winning election two months ago, it's time to go to work for Adair County officials.

Sheriff Robert Hardwick, First District Commissioner Carson Adams, Second District Commissioner Mark Thompson, County Assessor Donnie Waybill, Coroner Brian Noe, and Public Administrator Jeannette Gregory were all sworn in by Circuit Judge Russell Steele Monday morning.

County commissioners Mark Thompson and Carson Adams tell us they chose to run to make a difference in the county.

"Being a commissioner is not a spectator sport.  I decided if there was going to be some things changed in this county, I could be a person that would do that and that's why I chose to run," says Adair County Second District Commissioner Mark Thompson.

"I was born and raised here in this county, I raised my family here and I just want to see the best for this county that we can do," says Adair County First District Commissioner Carson Adams.

Each official took the oath of office Monday.  For some, it was the first day on the job.  But for others, it was business as usual.
