OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Some Ottumwa children will be all smiles on Christmas this year.
Big Brothers and Big Sisters and the Hy-noon Kiwanis Club are teaming up to give eleven children Christmas gifts.
The Kiwanis Club has been raising funds for the past year to donate to Big Brothers and Big Sisters who select the recipients of the gifts.
Sue Huff of Big Brothers and Big Sisters said that the gifts would make a big difference to the children in the program.
"One little ten-year-old boy said to me, ‘we are not going to have Christmas this year, [it’s] too expensive. Well, maybe just one.’ A ten year old boy shouldn't have to be brave about Christmas. And thanks to the Kiwanis that little boy doesn't have to be brave about Christmas. He's getting Christmas presents," Huff said.
The presents will go to six boys and five girls of all different ages.
