OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Alliant Energy crews hit the road when news surfaced on Friday that no one in Ottumwa lost power because of Thursday night's storm.
Ottumwa Alliant Energy officials called in 12 extra crews to help with the ice storm.
Workers came in from as far away as Minnesota and northern Iowa to lend a helping hand.
On Friday, however, all of the extra helpers left town.
The Ottumwa Alliant crew has learned from past ice storms that you can never be too prepared.
"Learning from the last two ice storms, this is the way to go. We pulled the trigger early, we were here early and like I said if it would hit, we would have been prepared," said Chris Messer.
City officials were thankful for all of the help from Alliant Energy.
