KIRKSVILLE, MO -- Things are looking a little grim for the Salvation Army this Christmas.
The Red Kettle Campaign is only about 30 percent of the way to reaching the Kirksville Salvation Army's $55,000 goal.
And more people than ever are turning to the Salvation Army for help. A record number of families used the food pantry last month.
“Our business is up, which is good but it's also sad because that means there's more people that are in need. But we're here to help, and by putting money in the kettle you can help us help them,” said Major William Hogg.
Even though donations are down, people are still giving in a unique way. A gold wedding band was found in one of the kettles last week. The Salvation Army will have the ring appraised and put the money in the Christmas fund.
