KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- About 300 people in Kirksville were without power Monday morning after a car crash at the intersection of Halliburton and LaHarpe.

The crash caused an SUV to hit a utility pole which cracked in half and pulled down several power lines just after 9 a.m.

Kirksville Police officers tell KTVO a car, driven by Sarah Mohler of Kirksville, was headed north on Halliburton and collided with the SUV driven by Christa Magers, also of Kirksville, that was westbound on LaHarpe.

Both vehicles were extensively damaged; one driver was taken to the hospital.

Officials with AmerenUE restored power to the majority of effected homes by 11 a.m. but about 90 customers were without electricity until 2 p.m.

Representatives from Atmos Energy and Cable One were also on scene.
