OTTUMWA, IOWA -- About 900 students filled the Indian Hills Community College campus in Ottumwa on Friday.
They weren’t college students though; they were eighth graders from all across southeast Iowa.
The students each attended three sessions to learn about potential future careers.
This was the second of two career days at the college campus. Overall, 19 school districts and more than 1,400 students participated in the special event.
“It brings the kids together and it gives them a head start in thinking on what they want to do, obviously it's not going to solidify their career choice, but it gives them a leg up,” said IHCC High School Programs Coordinator Karen Swanson.
KTVO was also at the event to discuss broadcasting careers with lots of interested students.
