KIRKSVILLE, MO -- It's that time again, the day hunters everywhere have been looking forward to all year, the start of Missouri firearms deer season. People travel from all over the nation to hunt in Northeast Missouri.
“We have this thing at work we call the countdown. All we do is count down the days until hunting season comes,” said Russell Cordray.
Missouri firearms deer season began Saturday and runs through November 25. Hunters may legally shoot from a half hour before sunrise to a half hour after sunset.
We checked in with the Missouri Department of Conservation to see if the weekend got off to a good start. Conservation agents tell KTVO it was a busy day, but they didn't have any problems. Many hunters called in with routine questions, asking about hunting permits and restrictions.
