DES MOINES, IOWA (AP) -- Alliant Energy says it will delay cutting off power to former workers at the Agriprocessors meatpacking plant in Postville.

Many of the workers face financial problems because they lost their jobs at the kosher meatpacking plant, the site of a major immigration raid in May.

Alliant Energy provides power and gas to most of Postville, which has about 2,300 residents.

Company spokesman Ryan Stensland says state regulators asked Alliant Energy not to cut any Postville customers off for at least a week.

Stensland says 330 customers were behind in paying their power bills.

Agriprocessors filed for bankruptcy last week.
