KIRKSVILLE, MO -- There was a unique Children's Sermon at the First Baptist Church in Kirksville Sunday.

Pastor Marty Joplin challenged the children to double attendance in Sunday School by inviting their friends. The kids of the church rose to the challenge, so a barber buzzed off all of Pastor Joplin's hair during the service in front of the entire congregation.

“Studying God's word is so important, especially for the children in their formative years. I want them to come in and learn the habit of Bible study, so I've done strange things from preaching from a high elevation on a scissor lift to preaching from a rooftop. I’ve done all kinds of things but it's all as a commitment to try and bring people into being regular part of Bible study because that's where lives are transformed by the living word of God,” Joplin said.

The barber also cut a Christian cross into the back of Joplin's new hair cut.
