KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- Adair County Prosecutor Mark Williams is accusing Coroner Brian Noe of "unnecessary delays" in setting a date for a coroner's inquest into the May shooting death of Rogelio Johnson,48, of Kirksville.
Noe disagrees and told KTVO Monday he's waiting for all of the evidence from investigators before moving forward.
Adair County Jail Administrator Jackie Gleason is suspected of fatally shooting Johnson, her estranged boyfriend, at her house on May 9th.
She has not been arrested or charged in the case.
Authorities have alluded to the fact that it may have been a case of self-defense.
Noe says Gleason's cell phone records are all he's waiting on, and highway patrol investigators expect those to arrive any day now.
"He's waiting on the cell phone records of Jackie Gleason, and we have the cell phone records of the deceased, and so if you're looking for any cell phone calls between the two, we already have that issue resolved and had it resolved in the eyes of investigators. That way we can answer any questions as far as any contact during any period of the time during May 9th. We can answer those," Williams said.
While the prosecutor argues that Rogelio Johnson's cell phone records would contain the same information as Gleason's phone records, Noe counters that he needs Gleason's cell phone records to see what other calls she may have made before, during or after the shooting.
Noe announced Monday afternoon during a meeting with county commissioners that he has set July 9th as the tentative date set for the coroner's inquest.
