OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Many people in the Heartland are making their plans for New Years Eve and deciding where they want to ring in the New Year at.

And for one local business, the holiday could bring in a lot of extra revenue.

The historic Hotel Ottumwa said that the New Years holiday is one that they can count on to sell-out rooms.

“You know, New Years has kind of changed a little over the years. I mean it used to be kind of a really big night and its still always a good night, but I think people are a little more aware of the laws and don't want to be out there putting themselves at risk. So getting a hotel room is a good idea and it still makes for a good fun night to out and have a good time,” said Tim Schwartz, Hotel Ottumwa.

The Ballroom at the Hotel Ottumwa is expected to be full for its annual New Years Eve party.

Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door. The time of the event is 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.
