KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- If you are looking to give a Christmas gift that will help someone in need, the United Way Adair County/Northeast Missouri may be a good place to do that.

A few months ago the United Way kicked off its fall campaign with a luncheon in Kirksville.

The campaign is aimed to raise more than $200,000 for several programs the United Way funds.

So far, the organization has raised $150,000.

The Executive Director said this amount is a little short of where it was at this time last year, but he hopes to get some last minute givers.

“We’re going to be running the campaign through the end of the month through December 31,” John Dungan said. “So, anybody who would like to make a contribution by the end of the year will contribute to next year’s campaign.”

Dungan said in order to track where your money goes you have to choose a specific agency.

“We encourage people to give an open donation that will be distributed between our 13 partner agencies,” Dungan said. “But, if folks want to give a designated gift to one particular agency they're welcome to do that.

If you want to make a donation, you can go to the United Way office in Kirksville.
