MT. PLEASANT, IOWA -- Iowa Wesleyan College is on the hunt for a new college president.
The former president, Jay Simmons, announced his resignation in December to take the presidency at Simpson College.
Iowa Wesleyan has appointed a search committee, lead by co-chairs Rev. Michael Morgan of Marion, Iowa and Elizabeth Garrels of Mount Pleasant.
The college also acquired a search firm, R.H. Perry & Associates of Washington D.C., to help them interview candidates and continue the advancements in academics and enrollment begun by President Simmons.
"I think that we're interested in somebody that is a people person that can meet the community, meet the students, work with the faculty, can travel and meet alumni, development and enrollment is very important," said Don Wiley, Chair of the Iowa Wesleyan College Board of Trustees.
The search firm was on campus on campus in January to talk to students and staff and find out what kind of personality will be right for the college.
Wiley said the Board of Trustees hope to have a new president appointed by the fall of this year.
