BURLINGTON, IOWA -- A Burlington woman is in jail after allegedly making threatening remarks to her mother, and spitting in her face in front of police.
Deputies from the Des Moines County Sheriff's Office initially responded to a domestic dispute between Mindy Jean Haas, 33, and her mother Arlene Haas, at little after 2 p.m.. Sunday afternoon at an address on Y Camp Road.
Mindy was placed under arrest and charged wtih Domestic Abuse Assault. It was at the residence that Mindy spit in her mother's face in front of deputies.
While being booked, police say that Haas called her mother and demanded money for bond and threatened to harm her. Haas later denied calling her mother saying at first the call had been to her brother.
When confronted with the phone records, Haas changed her story, saying she had called a woman named Chippy.
The call resulted in Haas facing an additional charge, Tampering with a Witness.
