MOBERLY, MO. -- It was a long motion hearing with a familiar refrain for Bruce Cole in a Randolph County courtroom Thursday morning.

Cole, the former president and CEO of Moberly’s failed Mamtek project, appeared in court in front of a new judge to argue motions that have mostly been heard before.

Cole’s public defender, Raymond Legg, did ask for more information from the state regarding witnesses and deals made with possible witnesses, and he received an objection from Sean Smith, who represents the attorney general's office in the case. A change of venue was discussed, as was the third request for bond reduction, and a request for Cole to be able to appear in civilian clothes in future hearings.

Circuit Judge Russell Steele from Kirksville has been assigned the case.
He heard arguments on each motion, then took everything under advisement. No judgments were issued today. Cole remains in custody on a $500,000 surety bond.

The date of his next court appearance has not yet been set.
