NOVINGER, MO. --

Some may find donkey basketball strange, but it sure is funny.

Tuesday evening at Novinger High School, four teams battled it out on the gym floor.

The game was pretty fun, and several people got booted off their donkeys. Others never even made it on.

The donkey basketball game is a fundraiser for Novinger High School's after prom.

The coordinator said the event was a success!

“We really appreciate everybody coming out,” Melissa Billington said. “We had more of a crowd than we ever expected to have and our tickets sales were outrageous our concession stand was awesome, and we know we sold a lot in the cafeteria.”

Billington said after prom gives students a drug and alcohol free alternative after prom is over.

KTVO’s Ela Soroka and Scott Kellum played in the game, and Scott even made a basket.

During intermission, kids were able to ride the donkeys, and they told us they had a great time.

Tuesday night’s event raised more than $3,300 in total.
