The trial of former Ottumwa Transit Director Pam Ward has been delayed.
OTTUMWA, IOWA --
Ward was scheduled to stand trial in Federal Court during the first two weeks of March on charges that during her tenure at OTA she inflated ridership numbers in order to secure additional federal funding.
That trial has now been pushed back until the first week of June.
The defense filed an uncontested motion last month that argued the number of documents needing review prohibited a March trial date.
Since Ward's dismissal in the summer 2011, the OTA has been unable to stay out of the news.
The most recent controversy regarding the agency was the appointment of a new director
Last week, the Ottumwa City Council appointed Interim Director Dave Silverio to the post permanently by a slim three to two margin.
